Jan COLLAERT I (Brussels 1525 or 1530 - Antwerp 1580) "Mary Magdalene anoints Christ's feet (Luke 7.37)" Original engraving in a burin by a subject of Maarten de Vos inserted in the collection entitled "Theatrum Biblicum, hoc est, Historiae sacrae veteris et novi testamenti tabulis aeneis expressae "(seventeenth-century version of Gerard de Jode's" Thesaurus Novi Testamenti ... "), published in Amsterdam by Jansz Claes Visscher between 1639 and 1674. Nice copy printed on thin laid paper with watermark “Arme di Amsterdam” (Churchill 1 and following), typical of 17th century Dutch paper production, with large margins beyond the imprint of the slab, various traces of burnishing and small foxing points at the edges and the trace of a central vertical fold but overall in a good state of conservation. Bibliography: Churchill "Watermarks in paper" Amsterdam 1967 No. 1 and following. The New Hollstein "The Collaert Dynasty" Amsterdam 2005 No. 309. Measurements in mm: 190 x 280
